In Kennel Training
First Friend K-9 acknowledges the fact some owners just don't have the time to train their "First Friend," or maybe they're having some behavioral issues that require more than just an obedience class.
To solve this dilemma, we offer In Kennel Training. Your dog is housed on our premises and
professionally trained. All owners will receive an hour and a half private lesson at the end of the dog's stay to review all commands learned and answer any behavioral questions. This will help to
solidify the training as well as help make the transition back to the owner seamless. You will also receive a second FREE follow-up private lesson with the dog's trainer (typically done a few weeks after pick-up) to go over anything you may have questions about after the dog has transitioned back to their home environment.
With our In Kennel Training, we at First Friend K-9 Training offer the opportunity for your "First Friend" to not only be trained in our 3000 square foot facility, but also to be trained inside and outside dog friendly retail establishments near our facility. This raises the exceptions of the dog's obedience and social behavior along with solidifying your "First Friend's" stellar accomplishments.
We at First Friend K-9 also know that some dogs will need specialized in home training after their In
Kennel Training stay. We are able to offer you the service of delivery of your "First Friend" to your home and we will spend an hour and a half (minimum) with you and your family to help make the transition smooth.*

(We recommend at least one week minimum for dogs that have never done training with us before. Four weeks is the amount of time we consider optimal for a
pet owner to have the desired level of confidence.)
Daily - $130
1 week - $650

* An additional fee will be charged for home delivery.
** All 4 and 6 week dogs will receive a free Novice Obedience Class (a $350 value) along with a groom (up to $45) for your "First Friend".
Expectations of IKT Dogs
1 Week
- Introduction of heeling
- Walk on a loose lead while resisting distractions
- Sit on verbal command
- Down on verbal command
- 2 minute Sit Stay, Handler 12'-15' away from the dog resisting distractions
- 15-30 minute Down Stay with the same criteria as Sit Stay
- Must be able to walk around the dog on Sit Stay and step over the dog in Down Stay
- Come sit in front of handler on verbal command without a leash correction
2 Week
- Heel with an automatic Sit
- Sit Stay for 3 minutes resisting distractions, handler 25' - 30' away from the dog
- Down Stay for 30 - 45 minutes with the same criteria as Sit Stay
- Down on verbal command
- Random downs
- Random sits
- Come from Sit Stay with handler 30' from the dog with long line on the floor
3 Week
- Heel with an automatic Sit outdoors
- Sit Stay for 4 minutes resisting distractions, handler 30' - 50' away from the dog
- Down with verbal command
- Down Stay for 45-60 minutes with same critera as Sit Stay
- Stand Stay for brushing and handling
- Come from a Sit Stay across the room dragging a 6' leash
- Circle right/Circle left
- Left abouts
4 Week
- All of the previous 3 weeks, plus
- Change of paces while heeling
- 2 hour Down Stay
- Military Finish
- Random Come under distraction on a long line without correction
- Work on "out of sight" sit and down stay
- Sit out of motion
- Call to the heel position
- Place - Bed is provided by owner
6 Week
- All of the above plus
- Starting off leash obedience with traffic lead
- Distance downs
- Start conditioning of dog for Canine Good Citizen test
The 4 and 6 week programs entitle you to a FREE 8 week Novice Obedience course valued at $350.00 plus a Bath & Brush Out for your dog ($45 maximum value)
